Paulina Masevnina (*1997) is a photographer and visual artist from Russia, currently based in Czech Republic. Her main interest lies in exploration different aspects of sexuality as kinks, taboos around masturbation, one-night-stand culture, web cam etc. She portrays yourself and others, taking erotic shots on the verge of soft pornography. The pictures are raw, overexposed, unfocused, as if the photographer peeked inside your bedroom. By creating her own visual language, she transfers her sexual and emotional experience to the pictures. The body is impersonal. She understands the body as a flesh, nudity as a ritual of liberation. With her works she wants to evoke strong emotions, including sexual arousal. Taking portraits, she tries to capture frank, strong, point black look. Another significant topic is the concepts of pleasure and shame, standing separately as a reflection on the situation in modern russian society.

The body is just a body. flesh and emotions, arousal and desires. Pleasure and pain are too close. One flows into the other. Camera in your bedroom. The camera sees your lovers. Movements of hands, legs, bodies and curves. It Fixes your face changes when you love yourself. It sees your kinks. Knows what you are ashamed of and what you want.
