Polina Masevnina (1997, Ryazan, Russia) is a photographer, art director, set designer and retoucher based in Prague. Her practice moves between commercial visual direction and an autonomous fine art body of work — two modes that are distinct in language but rooted in the same obsessive attention to image, object and meaning.
She studied Intermedia and Digital Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno University of Technology (FAVU VUT), completing both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Her academic background in conceptual and intermedia art underpins a commercial practice that is visually precise, editorially grounded and driven by a strong sense of narrative.
In her commercial work, she operates as a photographer, art director and set designer for fashion, lifestyle and accessory brands — building visual identities, directing campaigns and leading the full creative direction of content across shoots and social channels. She simultaneously holds the visual direction of several brands, developing and sustaining distinct creative languages for each without losing the internal logic of any of them. Her still life and product work is distinguished by a tactile, carefully constructed quality: objects are elevated through set design and compositional intention rather than imposed styling. Long-term clients include Loro Oro, So.Slow and Object Concept Store. As head editor and retoucher at Fishead Agency (Sydney), she manages post-production for Australian fashion labels Camilla & Marc and Viktoria & Woods.
In her personal practice, Masevnina navigates the intersections of radical intimacy, post-love narratives and raw corporeality, using her own body as both subject and instrument. Working at the threshold of text and image, she creates minimalist yet conceptually charged objects marked by contradictory tensions — between the external and internal, the personal and the political. Since 2019, she has developed and published her work through self-published photo editions, and has exhibited across the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia, Bulgaria and the Netherlands.
She is fluent in Russian, English and Czech, and works with clients across Europe and internationally.
