LIKE HEAD AGAINST THE WALL / MAKE PORN NOT WAR
I sit on the concrete floor, facing the audience, the bed is by my side. my eyes are facing down; in the shame you are not able to look into someone’s eyes. I put my hands into the jar with water, washing my face, taking a breath. slowly in the silence I start washing my body. from hands to elbows, from chest to neck, from hips to belly. pressing my flesh against the concrete surface, roughly, trying to tear the skin off.

In the performative section, I am reacting to the war in Ukraine from my personal perspective as a member of the state responsible for mindless aggression. By washing away the invisible shame from my body, I reveal the tragedy of losing my national identity.
I want to peel away my skin. Through the intense action of washing my arms from my hands to my elbows, I am visualizing the phrase “hands drenched in blood.” The object I am referring to is a safe space, the bed as a manifesto. We sleep, cry, fight, and make love in bed. The bed serves as a political or apolitical body.
